Why Our Chicken Is Different
Typical supermarket chickens are raised in warehouses with tens of thousands of other birds, with no sunshine or grass. Even so-called "free range" chickens have very limited access to the outdoors, which they rarely use. They are vaccinated, debeaked, given routine antibiotics and arsenic (an appetite stimulant), and fed the remains of other chickens and genetically-modified grains.
The suffering of factory-farmed chickens is obvious:
Our chickens are raised in sunny hoop houses in small groups and moved to fresh pasture every day. Great care is taken for their well-being. Thirty percent of their diet consists of grass and bugs found while foraging. We also feed them antibiotic-free, locally-produced grains. We offer USDA-inspected whole birds and cuts. You can taste the difference!
Davis Creek Farm chickens get green grass, fresh air, and plenty of room:
Davis Creek Farm natural meats are available at our farm store and at the Nellysford Farmer's Market.
